Florida Foundation for Healthcare Research is located in Ocala, Florida. Led by Medical Director, Ira Klimberg, MD, a board-certified urologist, we are a urology based research facility that has been conducting clinical research trials for over 20 years.

The site employs an experienced research team of 10 research professionals, including physician assistants, certified clinical research coordinators, regulatory coordinator, data specialists, patient recruitment specialist and research technicians. The site’s innovative and extensive patient recruitment activities and multimedia promotions help to spread the word about research which often results in rapid recruitment for trials. The site has a reputation for its friendly and flexible staff, high quality data, close attention to detail and strong results.

Our Principal Investigators

Ira W. Klimberg, MD
Medical Director, Principal Investigator

Ira W. Klimberg, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his urologic training at the University of Florida . He has been certified by the American Board of Urology since 1986 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. During his four years on staff at Shands Hospital , he was actively engaged in research focused on new medical and surgical treatments in urology. Dr. Klimberg has over 20 years of experience in clinical research as a principal investigator and has conducted over 300 trials. His research in urology has drawn international attention. He is frequently featured as a guest speaker and has authored over 70 articles on his urology experience and findings for medical journals.

D. Russell Locke, MD
Principal Investigator

D. Russell Locke, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Florida , where he also completed his surgical and urological training. He has been certified by the American Board of Urology since 1990. Dr. Locke has over 15 years experience in research as a principal investigator and has conducted over 200 trials, primarily in the areas of benign prostatic hypertrophy, erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, urinary incontinence and urinary tract infection.
